It’s a good article. I think there are places where both methods make sense. I am using the .get() notation when dealing with things like argparse(). Part of the issue with using try/except is that it fails on the first issue. So it is difficult to deal with a dataset where you have default values unless you place it in a loop. I am using this a lot with things like BOTO3 (AWS) parsing.
